That Back Story

Basement/Playroom was simple yet functional. During routine maintenance we discovered the dreaded black mold! We removed ourselves to mother/mother-in-laws house and then set out to purge EVERYTHING that was contaminated and could not be saved or cleaned. After many sad losses and giving in to the fact that not every toy is worth saving; we were able to break into the walls, where we discovered a the real sores of our problems.

We have as Suprise Window!

It was hidden beneath our deck and closed in behind drywall in our basement. Water was getting into the window well and causing all kinds of problems in our basement. We removed our rotting deck and Hubby dug out trenches around the window wells and we have had a dry basement ever sense. We are waiting to see what the winter/spring does to the overall dryness of the house but we are overall optimistic. After speaking to several contractors there is a definite need to put in a sump pump and a drainage system with the surprise window and the laundry room window. Totaling around 10K. Working on how to come up with that bit.

PHASE 2

PUTTING OUT LIFE BACK TOGETHER:

We patched up all needed walls and electrical and put on multiple child locks and now we reclaimed our house. It was not perfect my any means. It was still missing its trim and there was still a laundry list of projects that still needed to be finished in order to make it look done but with Christmas approaching and the kids growing ever restless at Grandma’s house we dug deep into the reserves and scraped the floors, put up all the wall panels: and got the house to a point were it was safe and mold free so we could move home.

Sense we have been home we have been able to accomplish the following tasks

develop and insall Laundry closet/organizational system

repair and replace stair treads

Patch and Paint Basement stair walls

Paint Basement Walls

Paint Upstairs Bathroom

Still To Accomplish/Finish

Finish Laundry Chute

Add Chair Rail Trim and Baseboard Trim

Pain and Seal Basement Floors

Repair Basement Bathroom
